Monthly Music Challenge #MMC1 with Cosmic Bos - Introduction

 Hello wonderful you,

Welcome to the blog where the Monthly Music Challenge takes place, this is the introduction

Welcome to the Monthly Music Challenge with @CosmicBos podcast

This is the introduction episode, laying out how it's going to go down for the rest of the year.

Let Nick and Andy (Cosmic Bos) be your guides through the wonderful world of music creation, working with the sublime musicians of Music Weeklies @MusicWeeklies CB will be making a new song every week in line with their rules, but on the side CB will be offering up the chance for music made within the month (leaning heavily on the first hashtag of each month) to be played on this podcast, and get comments from Nick and Andy.

Podcast play (PP) will not be reserved exclusively for the first hashtag (which btw is #NewBeginnings), and any of Music Weeklies hashtags generated in the given month are viable for PP, please send your mp3's (not WAVs, our inbox will die) to cosmicbos@gmail.com with the hashtag in the subject line, and a bit of info about yourself so we can give you the promo in the podcast that you deserve.

We won't be playing any material that doesn't meet the Music Weeklies guidelines or our Monthly Music Challenge ones either, to get airplay and PP for such songs you should go check out the New Music Saturdays guys (they have a podcast of their show too, check it out).

So, get to work lovely musicians, songwriters, audio creatives

You have until the 3rd of Feb (2023) to submit for the January hashtags, of which the first one (and the one you can have a month to work on) is #NewBeginnings

Check back on Twitter on the 13th, 20th and 27th of Jan to find out the other three hashtags that we will accept PP on.

This should be fun, we can't wait to hear from you

Any questions please come find us on Twitter @CosmicBos where we will attempt to answer them (SPOILER ALERT! we might not be able to)

Peace and infinite love

Cosmic Bos

Happy New Year! Have a drink in musical form - it's The Drunky Song

 Newpy Happy Ear me dears,

Cosmic Bos are going to launch their new Monthly Music Challenge this coming weekend (Friday
evening in the UK via Music Weeklies Twitter Hashtag Challenge), and I (Andy) have been taking part in the weekly musical creating since back in August last year. I made 21 hashtag songs in 2022, and one final one before the Monthly Challenge Launch for the final hashtag of last year #Drunk

Not my usual offering for sure, but I got an equipment upgrade at Christmas so wanted to flex some dance music muscles and let the guitar have a week off, instead turning to the trusty MiniNova to do the musical heavy lifting.

Here is a playlist of all 22 Music Weeklies Challenges I did, with a couple of upgraded demo's in there too from Cosmic Bos' EP - Virtual Normality 2.

Here's the link tree to all your Cosmic Bos branches, we have music and videos and podcasts all for Free!

Send money to us via musical purchases from any online retailer, but especially Bandcamp because, well, we get more dosh that way.

Peace and infinite love

Cosmic Bos End of Year Blog 2022 (with a video for 'Closed to the Public' enclosed)

 Hello dear friends,

To close out 2022, we present to you Closed to the Public

This is the closing track on our Judges Choice Award Winning Album, and the last of our videos to be released for our 2022 slate.

The song is about the secrets that are kept hidden by the state, the land that is private and the control systems that refuse to share their knowledge with the general population, and it also references Lord of the Rings because we happen to like Lord of the Rings.

All our music videos from 2022 can be found in our podcast feed, or in this handy playlist on YouTube

It has been a fantastic year for Cosmic Bos, even though we failed to achieve our primary objective (which was to make The O Door), we advanced our musical status no end, releasing our Improv Squared concept to the world (the world still isn't ready, hence the lack of response), making an Album in a Month for the Album Writing Club (see 2 A.M, it's Mission Time for details), collaborating on Orchestral tracks and doing the groundwork for 2023's big challenge as displayed in our EP Virtual Normality 2.

We have done our Outergalactic shoutouts for the year, on twitter, so here are screenshots of those tweets.

And finally, we got a tweet from Dan Wilson himself about our cover of his amazing song Dancing on the Moon.

Here is the song, it was on our Bos Live #2 Album we put out on Christmas Day

Happy New Year - Let's see what 2023 has in store shall we!

Peace and infinite love

Stop Saying 1984 to Make a Point (Official Music Video) by Cosmic Bos

 Hello lovely friends,

With the '22 ending imminently, it seemed only fitting to do a little cleaning out the hard drive ready for a fresh year of music and videos, which revealed a couple of music video's that had managed to skip their release windows and hide out in the hard drive. So, I present to you the first of the two missing music video's from our Judges Choice Award Winning Album - 2 A.M, It's Mission Time

Stop Saying 1984 to Make a Point

Nick and I (Andy) made music video's to go with every song from the album, when we were recording the actual record, we put camera in our faces to capture the process and give ourselves the option to make music videos for 10 out of the 12 tracks on the album. We had to make proper music videos for 'Catch a Clue' and 'Patient Mystery' as they had not been constructed musically using our special Improv Squared technique.

We felt this was the weakest song on the record, which is why it got skipped over in favour of the next video on the release schedule. It's not a bad song, but it's a bit barebones and could do with a bit more musical muscle, which ironically makes the song much like the protagonist of the book 1984.

Still, it made the album final tracklist, and sits proudly alongside it's musical brothers and sister on 2 A.M.

Here's the Youtube version should you prefer it

Coming tomorrow will be 'Closed to the Public', the final song from the album, along with a roundup of the year blog, Thanks for coming on this adventure with us, we love you very much.

Peace and infinite love

Cosmic Bos - Bos Live #2 (2022)

 Hey!

Click Play!

Hello you,

Nice to see you here, how's it going?

In 2022, Nick and Andy worked on some really fun, exciting projects, and it seemed fitting to close out the year with a little acoustic performance of a selection of the years songs made by Cosmic Bos.

Also, the boys did a cover of a Dan Wilson song, Dancing on the Moon, which was Baby Theo's favourite song on the year (he made us play it to him lots and lots). There had been plans for a whole 'Dan Wilson' special, but alas, time got the better of us and the idea has been put back on the shelf to be revisited at a later date (WE LOVE YOU DAN WILSON - you are an inspiration)

False Promises (Cosmic Bos Mix) - Andrew Hartshorn ft. Natalie Williams Calhoun (Official Lyric Video)

 Happy December friends,

Amazing artwork by Gecko

False Promises (Cosmic Bos Mix) - Andrew Hartshorn ft. Natalie Williams Calhoun, vocalled and remixed by Cosmic Bos

Taken from Cosmic Bos Virtual Normality 2

False Promises is originally a song on Andrew Hartshorn's album Movie House, which featured Natalie Williams Calhoun's sublime Cello playing. Cosmic Bos liked the song, so Andy wrote lyrics and a melody, recorded it with Nick, sent it to Andrew, and then Nick added Bass and Drums (and a couple of other things), and we called it a Bos Mix.

Video shot on a rainy day by Andy out of his front room window.

Available on all good internet platforms, you might even find it in the meta verse, but if you like bandcamp then we suggest this link right here
