Really pleased with how the launch has gone with lots of listens across the board for the preview tracks that are part of the preorder.
A big thank you to everyone who has already placed a pre order for the download and the limited edition CD.

Welcome to the blog for the new episode of Monthly Music Challenge podcast
Monthly Music Challenge with Cosmic Bos
Cosmic Bos (Nick and Andy Jackson) are the idiots here to take you through the 27 songs of the third month of the challenge. The main monthly theme was #Ignorance and 13 of the songs you will hear today were written around that idea.
Thanks to the amazing people of Music Weeklies we managed to secure some other wonderful songs through the other hashtags of March 2023, and we also introduce a new section at the end of the podcast called Late Subs, so if you want to get in on the Monthly Music Challenge action you can send us songs based on the previous Monthly hashtags (1. New Beginnings, 2. Escape, and now 3. Ignorance) for a chance to be played in the Late Subs.
Before we delve into the full tracklist, it's our pleasure to announce the next hashtag for the MMC, so MMC 1.4 will be #Winning. We are not paired with the Music Weeklies peeps on this one, so there is no pressure to get your monthly song finished in a week.

It's been a busy time around the Cosmic Bos parts, so apologies for having not blogged much, it's a full time job just keeping up with all the musical shenanigans behind the scenes. Best place for regular updates from us would be YouTube. Anyway, here's our EP for Bandcamp Friday, MMC 1.3 - Ignorance

The other 4 songs were all made for the Music Weeklies hashtags of March
Down for the Upside was for the #UpsideDown challenge - I wanted to write something that switched things up a bit and bought some positive uplift, and well, this some came out of it.
Gods and Goddesses of Olympus was for the #GodsOfOlympus challenge, and it's pretty self explanatory what I did here, initially I was only going to write about Hermes and Aphrodite giving birth to Hermaphroditus, but the more research I did the more it started to feel like epic film versions of reality TV, so it ultimately ended up as a run down of the main players.
Reflections of our Inescapable Humanity (No soup for you) was for the #MW200thTheme challenge, where we were allowed to pick from any of the 199 other hashtags previously run by them, I initially went with #Humanity but as the song progressed it became much more of a #SitcomTheme song about Seinfeld and how much I love that show.
Finally, Ivory and Ebony was for the #PianoSolo challenge, not being a pianist I had to think outside the box with this one, and went for a song about how the piano is a good metaphor for racial harmony and equality, music sees no skin colour.
We will make another lyric video to go with Idiots, to match our Nude Beginnings and Make Good Our Escape efforts, that will be with you soon too. In the meantime, you can see all the weekly produced vids that go with the above songs right here in this handy playlist

Cosmic Bos (Nick and Andy Jackson) are here to guide you through the wonderfully creative set of 25 songs (that's right! 25 chooons for you) all built around the hashtags of Feb 2023 (#Escape, #Freedom, #StandOut & #Family)set by the wonderful peeps of Music Weeklies (check out the community on Twitter) favouring the first one of course, as that is the monthly challenge.
Before we delve deep into this bag of music, so you know what the challenge is for March, the next episode will be MMC 1.3 - #Ignorance - so get writing your ignorance songs to submit to the podcast, closing date 7th April. Okay, business out the way, let's get down to, err, business.

We added a little bonus feature to the end of this show too, as we are evolving this idea and watching it take shape. We were asked by The Word Alchemist to do an instrumental version of one of Nick's older songs, which we did, and then it seemed only natural to add the vocal and before we knew it we had a fully finished song.
So, we launch this new feature into the Monthly Music Challenge by in which, if the inspiration from the hashtag of the month isn't grabbing you, you can raid your musical archive and spruce up, rework or simply redo something from your songbook, we are calling this section

And Cosmic Bos are going first with this, so here's the first entry to the Songbook section of the MMC
Heart Holder was originally recorded by Cosmic Bos as part of a special presentation in Season 2 of our podcast, and it's a totally banger, with Nick taking the lead vocal and the guitars pumping it all up. It was fun doing a proper recording of it, and as is the usual Bos way, we will see where this feature goes, we have plenty of songs in our own songbooks which may appear here...
